About

Philips Sonicare is an integration that reads brushing data from Bluetooth-enabled Philips Sonicare toothbrushes. It adds battery status, brushing session data, and brush head wear tracking, with sensors, binary sensors, switches, selects, and a bridge firmware update entity. All communication stays local, with no cloud or app needed. It connects through the Bluetooth adapter of the Home Assistant host, through an ESP32 running an ESPHome bridge, or through an existing ESPHome Bluetooth proxy. Options cover pressure, temperature, and gyroscope data during brushing, notification throttling for the bridge, and a warning about counterfeit brush heads. Home Assistant can discover the toothbrush on its own, and setup is done in the UI.

  • Enable pressure sensorStream pressure data during brushing sessions.
  • Enable temperature sensorStream temperature data during brushing sessions.
  • Enable gyroscope sensorStream 6-axis motion data during brushing sessions. High bandwidth — generally fine on a full ESP32, but may cause dropouts on smaller boards like the ESP32-C3. Only available on models with a built-in motion sensor.
  • Notification throttle (ms)Minimum interval between BLE notification events forwarded by the ESP bridge. Lower values give faster updates but may overload the ESP.
  • Pipelined GATT readsSend poll reads to the ESP bridge as one concurrent batch instead of one at a time. Requires bridge firmware 1.7.0 or newer (older bridges are always read sequentially). Disable only if you see read errors after a bridge update.
  • Warn about counterfeit brush headsWarn if no valid brush head NFC serial is detected after 30 seconds of brushing.
