About
FoxESS - Modbus is an integration that connects Home Assistant to FoxESS inverters locally over Modbus, without the cloud. It provides real-time readings and control through binary sensors, numbers, selects and sensors, rather than cloud data that updates about every 5 minutes. Depending on the inverter model, it can also set charge periods, work mode and minimum and maximum state of charge. The connection can run over a network adapter or a USB serial device, and the options cover the poll rate, rounding of sensor values to reduce database size, and older inverter firmware versions. It also offers a service to write any Modbus address, services to update charge periods, and repair notices for connection errors or invalid registers. Setup is done in the UI, with an option to configure the Energy Dashboard automatically, and it requires a direct Modbus connection to the inverter.
