About

Open-Meteo Solar Forecast estimates how much energy solar panels may produce in the coming days. It adds sensors for estimated production this hour, next hour, today, the remaining part of today, and each day up to a week ahead, plus the time of the highest power peak. Several PV arrays can be configured, each with its own location, tilt, azimuth, module power, solar tracker type and DC efficiency. Inverter capacity can be shared by all arrays or set per array, and morning and evening damping, snow cover depth and a horizon file for shading are also available. Forecast data comes from the Open-Meteo cloud service, and setup runs through the Home Assistant interface. An action moves an array's location to given coordinates or to the home location.

  • Inverter capacityThe AC capacity of a single inverter shared by all arrays in Watt (0 = no limit). Ignored if any array has its own inverter capacity set on the array pages.
  • Maximum snow cover depthIf greater than 0, the snow cover depth which results in zero module power.

Array

  • Latitude
  • Longitude
  • Declination0 = horizontal, 90 = vertical.
  • Azimuth0 = North, 90 = East, 180 = South, 270 = West.
  • Modules peak powerTotal Watt peak power of the solar modules in this array.
  • Array inverter capacityThe AC capacity of this array's own inverter in Watt (0 = no dedicated inverter). If any array has its own inverter, each array is clamped individually and the shared inverter capacity is ignored.
  • Solar tracker type
  • DC efficiency factor0.0 = 100% loss, 1.0 = no loss.
  • Morning damping factor0.0 = no damping, 1.0 = full damping in the morning.
  • Evening damping factor0.0 = no damping, 1.0 = full damping in the evening.
  • Use horizon fileUse the horizon line defined in the horizon file (see docs) to respect shading of the modules.
  • Partial shadingOnly if horizon is enabled: treat shadows as partial.
  • Horizon file pathPath to the horizon file (leave empty for the default path).
  • Add another array
