About

Spotcast is a custom integration that starts Spotify playback on idle Chromecast devices and Spotify Connect devices. It adds a cast platform that lets Google Cast media player entities play Spotify content and browse the Spotify library. A start service is added to Home Assistant so automations can target either Chromecast or Connect devices. It only begins playback, and control afterwards is left to the Chromecast and Spotify components. Multiple Spotify accounts can be configured to start playback with something other than the default account. It relies on the Spotify cloud, needs two browser cookies for authentication, and requires the core Spotify integration to be installed alongside it.

Home Assistant custom component to start Spotify playback on an idle chromecast device or a Spotify Connect device (thanks to @kleinc80) which means that you can target your automation for chromecast as well as connect devices.
Spotcast implements a cast platform (requires Home Assistant Core 2022.2.0 or later), which enables Google Cast media player entities to play Spotify URI as well as to browse the Spotify library.
