About
OpenWrt is a Home Assistant integration that monitors and controls OpenWrt routers locally. It talks to the router through the native OpenWrt Ubus interface, or over SSH, rather than SNMP or ping checks. It adds device tracking, system sensors for CPU, memory, load, uptime and temperature, plus switches and buttons for radios, WPS, services, internet access and backups. Further coverage includes VPN status for WireGuard and OpenVPN, multi-WAN, and cellular modem signal readings. Firmware updates, including custom firmware, are exposed as update entities, and actions can run shell commands, read or set router configuration values, and generate a report. Optional MQTT presence detection is available, and the integration is set up in the UI, with discovery on the network.

From the README
A secure, production-ready Home Assistant integration for OpenWrt devices. Monitor system resources, track connected devices, manage WiFi radios, execute commands, and natively update firmware directly from Home Assistant.
- VPN Monitoring:
- Tracks status (Up/Down) for WireGuard and OpenVPN tunnels.
- Monitors throughput (RX/TX) and detailed WireGuard peer statistics (handshake, transfer, allowed IPs).
- Network & Connectivity:
- Latency/Ping: Monitor network latency to a target (e.g. 8.8.8.8) with packet loss tracking.
- DHCP Monitoring: Track the number of active DHCP leases.
- Public IP: Track your external WAN IP address with change detection.
- Advanced Interface Diagnostics: Individual sensors/attributes for IPv6 addresses, link speed (Mbps), duplex mode, and interface uptime.
- Multi-WAN (mwan3): Per interface an online binary sensor, the online ratio since the router booted, and a status sensor with mwan3's tracking state: online, connecting (answers again, recovery…
- 4G/5G QModem Support (ModemManager integration):
- Comprehensive signal diagnostics: RSRP, RSRQ, RSSI, SINR for LTE and 5G.
- Device health: Modem temperature, voltage, and ISP detection.
