About
Ping (ICMP) is a built-in integration that checks whether a network host responds to ping requests. It works locally and is set up in the UI by entering the hostname or IP address of the device to ping. The integration provides a binary sensor for reachability and also supports presence detection, so a pinged device can act as a device tracker. Sensors report jitter, packet loss, and the minimum, maximum, average and mean deviation of round-trip time. Options cover the host, the number of pings sent, and a consider-home interval, which sets how many seconds pass before a device tracker is marked as not home after the device was last seen.
