About
SolarEdge Modbus is a built-in integration that reads and controls SolarEdge inverters locally over Modbus. It connects either through Modbus TCP by host and port, or through a serial RS485 bus with a baud rate and serial port, plus the inverter's device ID. It adds sensors for status, phase currents, DC power, voltage and current, and energy values such as exported and available energy, along with a binary sensor for grid connection. Number and select entities cover controls like active power limit, backup reserve, site export limit, and storage charge, discharge and command modes. Switches handle external production and negative site limit. Home Assistant can discover the inverter on the network, and connection settings can be changed later without removing it.

Setting it up
Home Assistant usually finds it on the network and offers to add it. It can also be added by hand under Settings, Devices and services.
Serial
- Baud rateThe baud rate of the RS485 bus, as configured on the inverter. The SolarEdge default is 115200.
- Serial portThe serial port the inverter's RS485 bus is wired to.
- Device IDThe Modbus device ID of the inverter, as configured on the inverter itself. The SolarEdge default is 1.
Tcp
- HostThe hostname or IP address of your SolarEdge inverter. Modbus TCP has to be enabled on the inverter first, in the installer settings.
- PortThe TCP port the inverter listens on for Modbus requests. The SolarEdge default is 1502.
- Device IDThe Modbus device ID of the inverter, as configured on the inverter itself. The SolarEdge default is 1.
