About
Jellyfin is an app that runs the Jellyfin media server next to Home Assistant for films, series and music. It reads the folders holding the media library, identifies the content, and collects artwork and descriptions for it. The library uses the same media folder that other apps use, so existing files are available without copying or moving them. Its web interface opens in a sidebar page inside Home Assistant, and Jellyfin keeps its own user accounts, so a login is asked for once per browser. Other Jellyfin apps on phones and tablets connect through a published network port, and the app ships FFmpeg and drivers for hardware transcoding. It needs Home Assistant OS and supports aarch64 and amd64.

From the docs
Jellyfin is a media server. Point it at the folders holding your films, series and music, and it works out what everything is, collects the artwork and descriptions, and hands it all to whatever you want to watch on: a browser, a phone, a tablet, a games console or a TV.
Nothing about it phones home. There is no account to make, no subscription and no paid tier holding features back; the server on your own machine is the whole product. This app runs that server next to Home Assistant, with its library sitting in the same media folder the rest of your apps use.
Permissions
Needs no special permissions.
Network
8096/tcpWeb interface and API. Not required for Ingress. This is the port the Jellyfin apps on your phone, tablet, TV or games console connect to, and the one to publish for anything else outside Home Assistant that needs to reach this server.
Configuration
- Log levelControls the level of log output by the app and can be changed to be more or less verbose, which might be useful when you are dealing with an unknown issue. Each level automatically includes the messages of a more severe level. Jellyfin is set to the level that matches this one.
- SSLEnables/Disables encrypted SSL (HTTPS) on port 8920. Port 8096 stays plain HTTP, and this setting has no effect on the Ingress service.
- Certificate fileThe certificate file to use for SSL. The file must be stored in the /ssl/ directory.
- Private key fileThe private key file to use for SSL. The file must be stored in the /ssl/ directory.
