About

Frigate is a network video recorder app that runs realtime local object detection on IP camera feeds. It works with any camera video feed supported by FFmpeg and runs on amd64 and aarch64 systems with Home Assistant OS. Its own page opens in the Home Assistant sidebar, so the camera interface stays inside the usual dashboard. Frigate talks to Home Assistant through MQTT, which the docs list as a required dependency. Setup depends on a configuration file that has to be created in the app's config directory. The app asks for privileged Linux capabilities, hardware access to USB, serial or GPIO devices, and permission to read and control Home Assistant and talk to the Supervisor.
