About

Nest Legacy is a Home Assistant integration for Google Nest thermostats, temperature sensors, Protects, cameras, doorbells and locks. It uses the unofficial web API that the Nest apps use, so it covers devices the official Smart Device Management API does not, such as Nest Protect, Nest x Yale Lock and Nest Heat Link, and it needs no developer fee. It keeps persistent connections to the Nest cloud for real-time updates and adds climate, fan, lock, camera, water heater, sensor, switch and select entities. Extra features include running the thermostat fan for a set time, letting a temperature sensor drive the thermostat, Protect component tests, and setting or reading lock user schedules. Camera events can be browsed in the media browser, and the camera event poll interval is adjustable in the options. Setup is done in the UI with Google or Nest account authentication.

This is a custom component for Home Assistant to integrate a wide range of Nest devices using an unofficial web API (combining REST streaming and Protobuf). It serves as an alternative to the official Nest integration, providing support for devices not available through Google's official Smart Device Management (SDM) API, such as the Nest Protect, Nest x Yale Lock, and Nest Heat Link.
This integration provides real-time updates for most sensors and controls by maintaining persistent connections to the Nest API.
