About

pfSense is an integration that connects Home Assistant to a pfSense firewall and router over the local network. It talks to the built-in remote procedure service of pfSense, so no extra plugins or software are needed on the firewall. It adds binary sensors for failover status, system notices and available firmware updates, plus sensors for system details, CPU, memory, filesystem usage, interfaces, gateways, DHCP clients and OpenVPN servers. Switches and update entities are included, and many entities are disabled by default. An optional device tracker uses the pfSense ARP table to mark chosen devices as home, with a configurable scan interval and a delay before a device counts as away. Setup is done in the UI with the firewall address, login details, a custom firewall name and a choice to verify the SSL certificate.
