About
AlphaESS Modbus TCP is a local integration that reads and controls AlphaESS solar inverters over Modbus TCP. It talks directly to the inverter on the local network, so no cloud account is needed. Besides sensors for power flows, battery state and daily energy totals, it adds switches and number settings for forced charging, discharging, export and import, each with power, duration and cutoff charge level. Hold switches keep a forced mode running past its duration, and an excess export mode stores solar power that the inverter output limit would otherwise clip. Selects cover dispatch mode, charge and discharge time periods and the inverter AC limit, and buttons sync the inverter clock or restart its controllers. Setup in the UI asks for the inverter address, port and slave ID, and options cover polling speed and the inverter model variant.

- Poll ModeSlow (3x longer), Normal (default), or Fast. In Fast mode the loop runs at the poll interval value directly, so 0.1 gives a 100 ms loop and 10 polls per second for 1 s sensors.
- Slow Mode Interval MultiplierMultiplier applied to all scan intervals in Slow mode (default 3.0, range 0.25-10.0).
- Fast Mode Poll Interval (s)Sets the coordinator loop interval in seconds and scales all sensor poll intervals by the same factor. At 0.1, the loop runs every 100 ms and 1 s sensors poll 10 times per second. Values below 0.25 are only recommended for direct Modbus TCP connections - RS485 adapters are unlikely to keep up and may cause timeouts.
- Inverter Model VariantSelect Standard for most inverters. Select SMILE-B3 / SMILE-B3-PLUS if your inverter is a SMILE-B3 or SMILE-B3-PLUS - these models use different scale factors for voltage and inverter power registers.

Local Home Assistant integration for AlphaESS solar inverters (SMILE-M5, SMILE5, SMILE-G3, SMILE-Hi, SMILE-B3 series) via Modbus TCP.
No cloud account required. All communication is direct to the inverter on your local network.
- 103 sensor entities enabled by default (172 total) - real-time power flows, battery SoC/SoH, cell voltages, temperatures, voltages, energy totals, daily energy summaries, dispatch diagnostics, grid…
- Force Charging - charge battery from grid at configurable power (kW), duration, and cutoff SoC
- Force Charging Hold - keeps Force Charging running indefinitely after the duration expires; turn on before starting Force Charging for continuous charging without a time limit
- Force Discharging - discharge battery at configurable power, duration, and cutoff SoC; automatically stops 1% above the cutoff and resets dispatch so the inverter returns to self-consumption without…
- Force Discharging Hold - keeps Force Discharging running for the full configured duration instead of stopping early when the SoC target is reached
- Force Export - export to grid at a target feed-in rate (kW); battery discharge is dynamically adjusted for live house load and PV so the grid sees the configured power; stops automatically when the…
- Force Export Hold - keeps Force Export running indefinitely after the duration expires; turn on before starting Force Export for continuous export without a time limit
