About

BLE Battery Management System monitors Bluetooth Low Energy battery management systems from within Home Assistant. It works locally and is set up in the UI, and Home Assistant can discover compatible batteries on its own and offer to add them. It adds binary sensors for the balancer, charge and discharge MOSFETs and the heater, plus sensors such as battery health, cycles, design capacity, link quality, runtime and highest, lowest and delta cell voltage. The readout of individual cell voltages helps in judging battery health, and any number of batteries can run in parallel. The Bluetooth range can be extended with an ESPHome Bluetooth proxy. Options cover an optional device password and a setting to keep the Bluetooth connection alive between updates, which is meant to be turned off only when a single-connection adapter is shared with other integrations. A diagnostics file can be downloaded to attach to bug reports.

Setting it up

Install it from the Marketplace and restart Home Assistant, then add it under Settings, Devices and services.

Connect

  • Bluetooth name (MAC address) - Model

After setup

  • Device passwordOptional password to unlock device.
  • Keep connection alive between updatesKeep the Bluetooth connection between update cycles. Disabling this degrades BMS connection reliability and is only recommended as a last resort when sharing a single-connection Bluetooth adapter (e.g. Realtek RTL8761B) with other integrations. Consider using a dedicated Bluetooth adapter instead.

From the README

This integration allows to monitor Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) battery management systems (BMS) from within Home Assistant. After installation, no configuration is required. You can use the ESPHome Bluetooth proxy to extend the Bluetooth coverage range. By using standard dashboard cards, it is easy to visualize the current state of remote batteries.

  • Zero configuration
  • Auto detects compatible batteries
  • Supports ESPHome Bluetooth proxy
  • Any number of batteries in parallel
  • Native Home Assistant integration (works with all HA installation methods)
  • Readout of individual cell voltages to be able to judge battery health
  • 100% test coverage
