About

BLOOMIN8 E-Ink Canvas connects a BLOOMIN8 e-ink picture frame to Home Assistant over the local network. It adds buttons, a media entity, selects, sensors and text entities for the frame. Services cover showing the next image, sleeping, rebooting, clearing the screen and updating device settings. Images can be uploaded from a URL or as encoded data, in batches, and deleted, and galleries can be created, listed and removed. For frames that sleep deeply, a Bluetooth MAC address adds a wake button and an optional automatic wake before commands, which needs a Bluetooth adapter or proxy. Setup is done in the UI, either by discovery on the network or by entering the IP address.

Select BLE device (optional)Optional: pick your Canvas from Home Assistant's discovered Bluetooth devices (requires Bluetooth / BLE proxies). If set, the device will be woken via BLE and the setup will wait ~10s before connecting via IP.

Tip: if you set the device's Max Idle Time very low (e.g. 10–30s), the Canvas may frequently sleep between Home Assistant actions; set max idle to 1 minute or longer so BLE wake is not that often needed and slow down actions.
