About
Shairport Sync Media Player is a custom media player that controls a Shairport Sync installation through MQTT. It adds a media player entity to Home Assistant that receives updates from Shairport Sync and sends control commands back. Communication stays local, and it relies on the Home Assistant MQTT integration being set up. Shairport Sync must be compiled with at least the MQTT and metadata options. Setup is done in the UI by entering a name and the MQTT topic, and a YAML option also exists. Remote control of AirPlay 2 devices needs Shairport Sync 5.6 or newer.
