About
LocalThings is an integration that controls Samsung appliances from Home Assistant over the local network, with no cloud account. It covers washers, dryers, refrigerators, air conditioners, ovens and other appliances that work with the SmartThings app, and talks to each one directly. Each appliance becomes a device with entities matched to its type and model, such as sensors, switches, selects, numbers, climate, lights and water heaters. Appliances that support push send changes as they happen, and the rest are polled every 30 seconds. After setup it does not contact Samsung's servers, though adding the first appliance reads a public identifier once. Setup runs in the UI and usually needs only the appliance's IP address, and Home Assistant can also discover appliances on the network.
