About

ZTE router tracker is a local integration that tracks devices connected to ZTE routers and offers router management. It adds presence tracking for WiFi and LAN clients, including devices on mesh agent nodes when mesh topology is enabled. A router status sensor can include WAN details, model, firmware, uptime, CPU and memory usage, each switched on or off in the options. Switches and buttons cover tasks such as registering new devices, pausing scanning, and parental control rules on the ZTE F680. Actions can reboot the router, refresh it on demand, remove tracked devices, and export a support bundle that leaves out hostnames, SSIDs, serials, MAC and IP addresses. Polling interval, a persistent login session and refresh when a new device joins the network are adjustable, and setup is done in the UI.

Setting it up

Install it from the Marketplace and restart Home Assistant, then add it under Settings, Devices and services.

ZTE Router Configuration

  • Router IP Address
  • Username
  • Password
  • Router Model
  • Query WAN status
  • Query router details
  • Persistent session (reduces auth log noise)
  • Mesh topology (see all mesh node devices)

After setup

  • Router IP AddressIP address or hostname of the router.
  • UsernameRouter web UI user name.
  • PasswordRouter web UI password.
  • Query WAN statusAdds WAN details (IP, link state, uptime, optical levels on supported models) to the router status sensor.
  • Query router detailsAdds router model, firmware, uptime, CPU and memory usage to the router status sensor.
  • Persistent session (reduces auth log noise)Keep one router login between polls instead of logging in and out every time. Fewer router log entries; a stale session is re-created automatically.
  • Mesh topology (see all mesh node devices)Also list devices connected to mesh agent nodes, not only the controller.
  • Poll intervalHow often Home Assistant asks the router for devices. Every preset speeds up when devices change. Each poll logs in to the router, so very short intervals can log you out of its web UI.
  • Refresh when a device joins the networkPoll the router right after an unknown or disconnected device announces itself on the LAN (heard through ARP, so static IPs work too). Needs Home Assistant on the same network. Off by default.

Actions

  • Export Router Support BundleWrites a JSON file into the zte_tracker_support folder describing the structure of your router's responses, for attaching to a "please support my model" issue. No hostname, SSID, serial, MAC or IP address is collected.Fields: Host, I will read the file before sharing it
  • Reboot routerReboot the ZTE router. Optionally specify a hostname to reboot only that router.
  • Refresh routerPoll the ZTE router now instead of waiting for the next interval. Optionally specify a host to refresh only that router.
  • Remove tracked deviceRemove a tracked device entity by MAC address.Fields: MAC Address
  • Remove unidentified device_tracker entitiesRemove all device_tracker entities that have no unique_id.

Troubleshooting
