About
Popular Times is a custom integration that creates a sensor showing how busy a Google Maps place is. The sensor state holds the current popularity for the chosen place, which is looked up in Google Maps from its address. Sensor attributes also give past popularity for each hour of the day. When Google Maps has no live data for a place, the sensor falls back to historical data and sets an attribute to show the value is not live. A Google Places API key or Places ID is not required, since the integration uses the LivePopularTimes library, a fork of the earlier populartimes library. It is installed through the Marketplace (HACS on 2026.10 and older) or by copying files manually.
