About

Retry is a Home Assistant integration that repeats actions which fail, such as ones hit by temporary connectivity problems. It adds two actions: one that wraps a single action with retry logic, and a second that wraps a whole sequence of actions and works in the automation editor. An action is performed again when the inner action raises an exception or the target entity is unavailable. It is not suited to relative changes such as toggling, since a failure after the state change could cause an unintended result on a repeat. Failures can raise repair notices in Settings, and the options allow turning off the initial check and the repair tickets. It runs locally and is set up in the UI.

Smart homes include a network of devices. A case of a failed command can happen due to temporary connectivity issues or invalid device states. The cost of such a failure can be high, especially for non-interactive automation. For example, failing to shutdown an irrigation system which should run for 20 minutes can have severe consequences.
The integration increases the automation reliability by implementing 2 custom actions - retry.actions and retry.action. retry.actions is the recommended and UI friendly action which should be used. retry.action is the engine behind the scenes. It's being used by retry.actions but can also be used directly by advanced users.
