About
eBUSd is a Home Assistant app that runs ebusd, a daemon for talking to eBUS heating systems. It packages the unmodified ebusd binary from the john30 project in a supervised container, so it works as a transparent wrapper. It talks to Home Assistant over MQTT and reads the Mosquitto broker details from the Supervisor automatically, with an option to use an external broker. A USB adapter or a network adapter can be set in the app configuration, and leaving both blank lets ebusd try mDNS discovery. An optional setting seeds an MQTT discovery config file so that devices found by ebusd show up in Home Assistant. It needs Home Assistant OS, runs on aarch64 and amd64, can reach USB and serial devices, and opens its own page in the sidebar.

From the docs
This app is a transparent wrapper. It packages the unmodified ebusd binary from john30/ebusd into a Home Assistant supervised container. Nothing more.
Open an issue in this repository only for problems specific to running ebusd inside Home Assistant Supervisor (startup failures, HA integration, config folder access).
Permissions
- Hardware accessCan reach USB, serial or GPIO devices.
Configuration
- USB eBUS adapter (--device)Select a USB/serial eBUS adapter. For enhanced-speed protocol (enh:) use network_device instead.
- Network / enhanced-protocol adapter (--device)Full device string incl. protocol prefix, e.g. ens:192.168.1.1:9999, enh:/dev/ttyUSB0, or mdns: for auto-discovery.
- Seed HA MQTT integration config (only neeeded once)When enabled (default), the bundled mqtt-hassio.cfg is copied to /addon_configs/<slug>/mqtt-hassio.cfg on first start if the file does not already exist, and --mqttint=/config/mqtt-hassio.cfg and --mqttjson is automatically added to the ebusd arguments. This file defines which eBUS values are published to MQTT for Home Assistant discovery. Disable and add --mqttint=/config/your/path if you manage your own MQTT entities and do not want the bundled integration config. Suppling your own --mqttint= via commandline_options disables this setting.
- Additional ebusd options (one flag per entry)ebusd CLI flags, one per entry. --foreground and --updatecheck=off are always added. MQTT credentials (--mqtthost/port/user/pass) are sourced automatically from the Supervisor MQTT service; add --mqtthost manually here to use an external broker instead.
- SQLite telegram log (database file)Path of an SQLite database that stores every telegram ebusd receives from the bus, split into QQ ZZ PB SB NN DD CRC ACK ... columns with nanosecond timestamps, e.g. /share/ebusd/telegrams.db or /config/telegrams.db. Leave empty to disable.
- SQLite telegram log retention (days)Telegrams older than this many days are deleted from the SQLite telegram log. 0 keeps everything. Expect roughly 50-170 MB per day, depending on bus traffic.
