About
Lovelace Gen extends the dashboard YAML parser in Home Assistant with templating and file handling. It lets Jinja2 templates be used in dashboard configuration, for setting variables, looping over lists, using macros and adding conditional parts. Values are fixed when the interface is rerendered, so the templates are not dynamic. Included files can receive a dictionary of variables as a second argument, and a filter converts values back from JSON inside the file. A file command adds a random version number to resource paths on each rerender, which avoids stale caching of custom cards and pictures. It only applies to dashboards in YAML mode, and each processed file needs a marker comment on its first line.
