About

Default SPAN Integration for HomeAssistant/HACS

Description from SpanPanel/span

Supports

  • Works locally Talks to your devices on your own network. No vendor cloud in between.

  • Found by itself Home Assistant spots it on the network and offers to add it.

  • From the Marketplace Installed through the Marketplace, formerly HACS.

  • Actively maintained Its author released or pushed a change in the last six months.

Provides

  • Switches
  • Sensors

Setting it up

Install it from the Marketplace and restart Home Assistant, then add it under Settings, Devices and services.

Connect to the Span Panel

  • Auto-Compensate Energy DipsAutomatically compensate when the panel reports lower energy readings, preventing spikes in the energy dashboard.
  • Energy Display PrecisionNumber of decimal places for energy values (0-3)
  • HostIP address or hostname of SPAN Panel
  • HTTP PortHTTP port for the panel API (default: 80)
  • Power Display PrecisionNumber of decimal places for power values (0-3)

Panel Passphrase

  • PassphraseThe passphrase used to authenticate with the SPAN Panel v2 API

Circuit entity naming

  • Naming patternFriendly names use circuit labels from the panel. Tab-based names use breaker tab numbers for stable entity IDs.

Panel HTTPS port

  • HTTPS portLeave at 443 unless a proxy or a port mapping moved it.

Reconfigure SPAN Panel

  • HostIP address or hostname of the SPAN Panel
  • HTTPS portShown for a panel with a pinned certificate authority. Leave at 443 unless a proxy or a port mapping moved the panel's TLS.

After setup

  • Allow control without a logged-in userAutomations, scripts and other integrations call services with no user attached. While this is off, those commands are refused. Turn it on if your automations operate circuits.
  • Control lock auto-relock (minutes)-1 turns the control lock off and removes its switch. 0 keeps the lock armed until someone disarms it. Any other value re-arms it that many minutes after it is disarmed. Only administrators can disarm it.
  • Who may operate the panelHome Assistant grants every non-admin user control of every entity by default. Restricting to administrators is the only way to change that. Disabling stops creating the control entities; their registry entries, names and areas are kept.
  • Circuit Net EnergyNet energy per circuit, accounting for reactive power.
  • Auto-Compensate Energy DipsCompensate when panel reports lower energy readings. Disabling clears offsets.
  • Panel Net EnergyNet energy for main meter and feed-through, accounting for bidirectional flows.
  • Energy Sensor Grace Period (minutes)Minutes sensors hold last value when panel is offline (0–60). Default: 15.
  • Admin Users OnlyRestrict the dashboard sidebar entry to admin users.
  • Relay debounce (seconds)Refuse a second command to the same circuit's relay within this many seconds. Refused, never queued: a relay command firing seconds late against a changed panel is worse than an error the automation author can see. 0 disables it.
  • Show Dashboard in SidebarDisplay the SPAN Panel dashboard as a sidebar entry.
  • Snapshot Update Interval (seconds)Seconds between snapshot rebuilds (0–15). Lower = faster, more CPU. 0 = no debounce.

  • Add favoriteMark a SPAN circuit, battery (BESS), or EV charger (EVSE) as a favorite so it appears in the dashboard's Favorites view.Fields: Entity
  • Remove favoriteRemove a circuit or sub-device from the cross-panel Favorites view.Fields: Entity
  • Rotate panel credentialsAsk the SPAN panel to replace its passphrase, which is currently also its eBus MQTT broker password, store the new broker password, and reload the integration. Both the panel passphrase and the broker password change. Access tokens already issued, including the integration's, are not revoked. The new passphrase is returned in the response and is not stored by the integration, so save it before closing the response. Any other local client using the previous password, such as a second Home Assistant instance, a script, or third-party tooling, must be re-provisioned with the new one. The broker may not accept the new password as soon as the panel returns it, so the integration retries for about a minute before reporting in the response that it did not reconnect. If it did not, run the rotation again, and the integration uses the newly returned password; as a last resort, restart the panel. Only a Home Assistant administrator can run this, and it cannot be called from an automation or script.Fields: Config entry

Troubleshooting

  • DiagnosticsDownloads a diagnostics file to attach to a bug report.
  • Repair noticesNotices it can show in Settings, Repairs:SPAN Panel data field unavailable, SPAN Panel unit mismatch, SPAN Panel certificate authority changed, SPAN Panel stored certificate authority is unreadable, SPAN Panel HTTPS port is serving an untrusted certificate, SPAN Panel is not at the configured address, SPAN Panel hardware not validated with this release
