About
AI Agent is a Home Assistant integration that connects Assist and automations to Claude through the Claude Code add-on. It adds a conversation agent that answers in any language and can act on the home, with an option to let Home Assistant handle recognised device commands locally. An action called Ask Claude sends a prompt and returns the response, so automations can use it. Further actions store, list and forget facts that Claude takes into account in later conversations, kept per user or for the whole household. It also provides sensors for status, token usage, cost and session limits, a health check button, and an alerts binary sensor. The integration needs Home Assistant OS or Supervised, talks to the add-on over the internal network rather than the Anthropic cloud, and is normally set up through add-on discovery.

Chat with Claude from Home Assistant Assist, and call it from your automations — powered by the companion Claude Code app (a Home Assistant app, formerly called an add-on) running on your own hardware. Requires Home Assistant OS or Supervised. Home Assistant lists the integration as AI Agent.
claude_ha exposes Claude to Home Assistant itself. It talks to Claude through the Claude Code app over Home Assistant's internal network — the app holds the login and runs Claude, while this integration is a thin, secure client. Nothing here calls the Anthropic cloud directly.
