About

Magic Caster Wand connects Harry Potter Magic Caster Wands and their boxes to Home Assistant over Bluetooth. Spells and button presses become sensor values that automations can use, for example to switch a light on or off. Home Assistant can send actions back to the wand, including setting LED colors, clearing LEDs, vibrating, playing a spell effect and sending a macro sequence. A Spell Canvas camera shows the path of a cast, and a switch turns spell tracking on or off. Options cover an optional recognition server address and a spell timeout that resets the reported spell after a set number of seconds. It works locally, is found by Home Assistant on its own, and is set up in the UI.
