About

GARDENA smart local (preview) is an integration that connects GARDENA smart devices to Home Assistant over the local network. Communication goes to the GARDENA smart Gateway directly instead of through the cloud, and updates arrive through the gateway's WebSocket service, which is disabled by default and has to be enabled on the gateway. It provides valves, lawn mowers, switches, sensors such as soil moisture, flow rate and outlet pressure, plus buttons, numbers, selects, binary sensors and updates. Actions open a valve, enable a power outlet output, start a pump or start mowing for a set time, each with an optional one-off duration. Two blueprints wrap the valve and power outlet actions in scripts so a duration can be entered from the dashboard. Setup happens in the UI with the gateway address and a password taken from the gateway ID, and the gateway can be found automatically on the network.
