About

Aegis for Ajax is an unofficial integration that connects Ajax Security Systems to Home Assistant through the Ajax cloud. It works with the main Ajax app and with co-branded apps, using the same app protocol and regular account credentials rather than an enterprise API key. It adds alarm panels with night mode, group arming and optional PIN protection, plus binary sensors, sensors, switches, buttons, events, firmware updates and a cloud live view for video cameras. Hub network details such as Wi-Fi, Ethernet and cellular status are exposed as sensors. Actions cover force arm, disarm of night mode only, a panic button, Photo on Demand settings and management of account sessions. Push notifications through FCM credentials deliver real-time events, and repair notices flag problems with them. Setup is done in the UI, with support for two-factor codes.

Setting it up

Install it from the Marketplace and restart Home Assistant, then add it under Settings, Devices and services.

Aegis for Ajax — Login

  • EmailThe email you use to sign in to the Ajax app.
  • PasswordYour Ajax account password. Home Assistant keeps only a hash of it.
  • App label (co-branded app name)The app your account belongs to: Ajax or a co-branded app. See the README if you're not sure.

Also asked when changing the connection.

Two-Factor Authentication

  • TOTP CodeThe 6-digit code from your authenticator app.

Also asked when signing in again and changing the connection.

Select Spaces

  • SpacesThe spaces (hubs) to add to Home Assistant. Pick at least one.

Re-authenticate Aegis for Ajax

  • PasswordYour Ajax account password. Home Assistant keeps only a hash of it.

After setup

  • Fallback poll interval (seconds, 60-300)
  • Force arm (ignore open sensors and malfunctions)
  • Show "Arm Home" buttonAdds an Arm Home option to the alarm panel. It mirrors Night mode and is mainly needed for Amazon Alexa or Nabu Casa Cloud. Turn it off to hide the duplicate button if you don't use them.
  • Show exit / entry delays as panel statesWhen on, the alarm panel shows "arming" while the hub runs a detector's "Delay when leaving" and "pending" while a "Delay when entering" runs — both driven by the hub's own signals, not a timer of ours. Detectors without a delay (Instant Alarm) are already live during "arming". Automations waiting for "armed_away" will fire once the exit delay completes. The hub's raw state stays in the "hub_state" attribute.
  • Cloud live view for video cameras (experimental)Adds a live-view camera for each Ajax video camera, streamed through the Ajax cloud the way the app does away from home, so it also works when Home Assistant is not on the camera's network. Experimental: it may not work on every camera yet. Each view opens one video session; nothing runs while nobody is watching.
  • Require PIN code for arm/disarm
  • PIN code
  • FCM Project ID (for push notifications)
  • FCM App ID
  • FCM API Key
  • FCM Sender ID
  • Delete FCM credentials (clears all four fields)
  • I don't use push notificationsEnable this if you intentionally run without push. It hides the recurring "FCM not configured" reminder and Repair card. Real-time events (doorbell, arm/disarm, alarm, motion) still won't reach Home Assistant until you configure FCM.
  • Photo retention (days)
  • Max photos per device (0 = unlimited)

Actions

  • Force armArm the system ignoring open sensors and active alarms.Fields: Entity, Alarm PIN
  • Force arm night modeArm night mode ignoring open sensors and active alarms.Fields: Entity, Alarm PIN
  • Disarm night modeExit night mode while leaving any independently armed (away) groups armed. Unlike a full disarm, this only stands down the night-mode groups — the native Ajax "disarm night mode" operation.Fields: Entity
  • Press panic button (SOS)Trigger the Ajax SOS / panic button on a space. Calls the same endpoint as the red SOS button in the official mobile app and forwards a Panic alarm to the monitoring station (CRA), which on most contracts triggers immediate police dispatch and bypasses verification windows. Use only for genuine emergencies. The confirm field must be set to true or the call is rejected.Fields: Confirm panic, Entity, Latitude, Longitude
  • Set Photo on Demand modeEnable or disable Photo on Demand mode on a hub. Two independent channels can be toggled separately — user requests (whether hub users can request photos from the Ajax app) and scenarios (whether scenarios / automations can trigger captures). Leave a field unset to keep its current value. At least one is required.Fields: User requests, Scenarios, Entity
  • Refresh alarm camera imagesImport recent alarm photos into local albums without taking a new photo. New alarm pushes import automatically. Manual backfill is limited to once per five minutes per space, with one history query and at most ten media streams; completed local albums are skipped.Fields: Entity
  • List account sessionsReturn active Ajax account sessions for manual inspection on demand. This service calls an internal Ajax endpoint that may rate limit frequent requests; do not poll it in automations. The currently active Aegis session is marked is_current when it can be identified.Fields: Config entry ID
  • Terminate account sessionImmediately log the selected other device out of the Ajax account. Obtain its session ID through list_client_sessions. The integration never terminates its own session.Fields: Session ID, Confirm termination, Config entry ID
  • Terminate all other account sessionsImmediately log all other devices out of the Ajax account. This signs out other active Ajax mobile and desktop apps. The integration never terminates its own session.Fields: Confirm termination, Config entry ID

Troubleshooting

  • DiagnosticsDownloads a diagnostics file to attach to a bug report.
  • System healthAdds its status to Home Assistant's system information.
  • Repair noticesNotices it can show in Settings, Repairs:Hub network sensors degraded, Push notifications disabled — FCM credentials rejected, Push notifications not configured — real-time events disabled, Push notifications interrupted — the same message keeps ending the connection, Ajax is rejecting this version of Aegis for Ajax, Push notifications are not arriving, Set the alarm PIN again
