About
Config Template Card is a dashboard card that lets other cards use templated configuration values. It allows nearly any valid JavaScript on the hass object inside a card's configuration, so entity names, states and styles can be computed rather than fixed. Templates must be enclosed by a dollar sign and curly braces. Variables can be defined per card, and shared functions can be declared there so the same logic is not rewritten in several places. Variables can also be set once for the whole dashboard, as arrays or objects, and the two types can be mixed. Examples in the documentation cover entities cards and picture-elements cards, where both the inner element and the surrounding card can hold templated style values.
