About

MeteoSwiss is an integration that brings Swiss weather observations, forecasts and natural-hazard warnings into Home Assistant. It also provides pollen and air quality data, exposed as weather, sensor and binary sensor entities, including weather, critical and upcoming alert sensors. Measured values can come from a MeteoSwiss station, or current conditions can come from Open-Meteo for chosen coordinates, and forecasts use MeteoSwiss ICON data through Open-Meteo. What stands out is that the weather station, measured pollen station, forecast point and warning postcode are chosen independently, so each can refer to a different place. The forecast location can be found by postcode, town or point of interest search. It needs the vendor's cloud, is set up in the UI, and is an independent community fork rather than an official product.

Setting it up

Install it from the Marketplace and restart Home Assistant, then add it under Settings, Devices and services.

Weather Integration Setup

  • Data SourceChoose measured weather from a MeteoSwiss station or Open-Meteo weather for coordinates. Both use MeteoSwiss ICON Seamless forecasts through Open-Meteo.
  • Station for measured pollenChoose the pollen measuring station independently of the weather station and warning postcode. This choice does not change the modelled pollen forecast location. You can change it later in Configure.

Confirm the forecast location

  • Search for another locationEnable to return to search without saving. Otherwise submit to confirm the displayed location.

MeteoSwiss STAC Setup

  • Postal CodeFour-digit Swiss postal code for natural-hazard warnings only. It does not select the weather forecast location or pollen station.
  • Weather Station

Open-Meteo Setup

  • Postal code for weather warningsFour-digit Swiss postal code for natural-hazard warnings only. It does not select the weather forecast location or pollen station.
  • LatitudeBase latitude in decimal degrees (WGS84, -90 to 90). Used with longitude for current weather, modelled pollen, air quality and UV. The weather forecast location is chosen next.
  • LongitudeLongitude of the same weather location in decimal degrees (WGS84, -180 to 180). These coordinates do not change the warning postcode or the measured-pollen station.

Weather forecast location

  • Forecast locationKeep the current location, search the official catalogue, or explicitly return to the original base coordinates. No location changes until you confirm.

Find a forecast location

  • Postcode or town/POIEnter 2–128 characters. Accents and ae/oe/ue spellings are supported. Narrow a broad search until at most 20 results remain.

Select the forecast point

  • Forecast pointCheck category and height. A postal-code point is an assigned forecast coordinate, not a post office or your exact home address. No result is preselected.

After setup

  • Weather measuring station
  • Station for measured pollenOnly measured pollen changes. Modelled pollen and air quality keep their base location.
  • Warning postcodeFour-digit Swiss postcode for warnings. This does not select the weather station or forecast point.
  • Forecast locationKeep the displayed forecast point, search by postcode/town/POI, or return to the original base coordinates. A forecast search postcode does not change the warning postcode.
  • Current-data latitudeBase coordinates for Open-Meteo current data, modelled air quality/pollen/UV and a forecast without an explicit point. An explicitly chosen forecast point remains independent.
  • Current-data longitudeBase coordinates for Open-Meteo current data, modelled air quality/pollen/UV and a forecast without an explicit point. An explicitly chosen forecast point remains independent.
