About

SILAM Pollen monitor is an integration that provides pollen level sensors and a pollen forecast for a chosen location. Data comes from the SILAM Thredds server, with forecasts calculated by the Finnish Meteorological Institute, so it relies on the vendor's cloud. It adds sensors for alder, birch, grass, hazel, mugwort, olive and ragweed, plus a service status sensor, a fetch duration sensor, and a weather entity with the pollen forecast. Several locations can be set up as separate services, and the pollen types, update interval and forecast duration can be chosen. It keeps the last loaded data so sensors can recover after a restart or a short network problem. Actions for manual update and full refresh, diagnostics download and repair notices are also included, and setup is done in the UI.

Integration for Home Assistant using the dataset “Best time series obtained from the latest available run” from the SILAM Thredds server to create a service with pollen level sensors for a specific location. The forecast calculation is carried out by the Finnish Meteorological Institute taking into account aerobiological, phenological, and meteorological observations.
