About

Native MCP for Home Assistant mounts a Model Context Protocol server inside Home Assistant for MCP clients. It exposes a small set of generic meta-tools that cover the full admin surface, rather than the narrower LLM API subset of the core MCP server integration. The endpoint runs on Home Assistant's own HTTP server over stateless Streamable HTTP, with no separate port, and it reuses Home Assistant bearer tokens such as long-lived access tokens. Every tool call runs as the user who owns the token, so Home Assistant's own permissions apply, and admin-only operations require an administrator token. Options allow or block write tools, destructive tools and firing arbitrary events, and a per-token request limit per minute can be set; disabled tool classes are left out of the tool listing. It runs locally and is set up in the UI.
