About

Ecowitt Local connects Ecowitt weather stations to Home Assistant by polling the gateway's web interface over the local network. It needs no cloud service and no webhooks, and Home Assistant does not have to be reachable from the gateway. Entity IDs are based on each sensor's hardware ID instead of its channel number, so replacing a battery keeps automations, dashboards and history working. Each sensor becomes its own device with battery level, signal strength and online status grouped as diagnostics. Options cover how often live data and sensor mappings are refreshed and whether offline sensors are included, and two actions force a mapping refresh or an immediate data update. Setup is done in the UI with the gateway address and an optional password.

From the README

Integrate your Ecowitt weather station with Home Assistant using local network polling — no cloud, no webhooks, no exposure of your Home Assistant to the internet.

The key feature is stable entity IDs based on sensor hardware IDs. When a battery dies and you replace it, your automations, dashboards, and history continue to work without any changes.
