About

Thermal Comfort is an integration that calculates thermal indices and perception sensors from temperature and humidity readings. It adds sensors such as absolute humidity, dew point, frost point, heat index, humidex and moist air enthalpy, which give numeric values usable in automations. It also adds textual perception sensors that describe the range of an index in readable form, for example comfortable or uncomfortable. Each device takes a temperature sensor and a humidity sensor as input, with an optional pressure sensor, and weather and climate entities can serve as the source. Polling can be switched on with a chosen interval, and sensors that are not selected are created but disabled. It works locally and is set up in the UI.

Install it from the Marketplace and restart Home Assistant, then add it under Settings, Devices and services.

Thermal comfort settings

  • Device nameUsed as the device name and as the prefix of the sensor names, for example the name of the room.
  • Temperature sensor
  • Humidity sensor
  • Outdoor temperature sensor (optional)With the outdoor humidity sensor, the sensors that compare the room with the outdoor air are created: the moisture excess and the ventilation sensors. A weather entity can be used.

  • Pressure sensor (optional)
  • Wind speed sensor (optional)The wind at the place of the temperature and humidity sensors above, so outdoors. With it the wind chill and the apparent temperature are calculated. Set it only on a device whose sources are outdoor sensors or a weather entity, not on the device of a room. A weather entity can be used.
  • Enable Polling
  • Poll interval (seconds)
  • Use custom icons pack
  • Enabled sensorsSensors you do not select are still created, but disabled. You can enable them later in the entity settings.
  • Temperature attribute (optional)Attribute of the temperature sensor that has the value, instead of its state. Not needed for weather and climate entities.
  • Humidity attribute (optional)Attribute of the humidity sensor that has the value, instead of its state. Not needed for weather and climate entities.
