About

UK Bin Collection Data is an integration that pulls bin collection dates from UK council websites and outputs them as JSON. It targets councils that offer no API, and most of its council scripts scrape web pages, while others emulate a browser or read CSV files. In Home Assistant it adds calendars and sensors for the next collection of each bin type. Setup happens in the UI, where the council details vary and can include a postcode, house number, property reference number or a Selenium web driver address. A JSON mapping can assign a colour and icon to each bin type, since councils do not supply colours, and it can be changed later by reconfiguring. It needs the vendor's cloud connection and is installed through the Marketplace, or HACS on 2026.10 and older.

From the README

This project aims to provide a neat and standard way of providing bin collection data in JSON format from UK councils that have no API to do so.

Why would you want to do this? You might want to use this in Home Automation—for example, say you had an LED bar that lit up on the day of bin collection to the colour of the bin you want to take out; then this repo provides the data for that.
