About
SMTP is a built-in Home Assistant integration that sends email notifications through an SMTP server. It adds a notifier and a send message action, so automations can send email. The connection takes the server host, port, username, password, sender email and sender name, and offers a choice of STARTTLS, SSL/TLS or no encryption. Certificate verification can be switched on for secure connections. Options cover a Reply-To address and name, plus a connection timeout that defaults to 60 seconds. It is set up in the UI, and a repair notice appears if an older YAML configuration fails to import.
