# SolarEdge Modbus Multi

> SolarEdge Modbus Multi is a Marketplace integration for Home Assistant. It has 3.2k installs sharing analytics, works locally and was last updated October 25, 2026.

SolarEdge Modbus Multi polls one or more SolarEdge inverters locally over Modbus/TCP, with no cloud dependency. It adds sensors, binary sensors, numbers, selects, switches and buttons for inverters, meters and batteries, and can detect meters and batteries on its own. By default only features documented by SolarEdge are enabled, while battery reading and the site limit and storage controls are switched on through the power control options. Home Assistant can discover the inverter on the network, or inverters can be found with a scan or added by a manual device ID list. Options cover polling frequency, request timeout, command delay and battery energy reset behavior. Setup runs in the UI, and repair notices appear for configuration problems such as an invalid device ID.

## Supports

- **Works locally**: Talks to your devices on your own network. No vendor cloud in between.
- **Found by itself**: Home Assistant spots it on the network and offers to add it.
- **From the Marketplace**: Installed through the Marketplace, formerly HACS.
- **Actively maintained**: Its author released or pushed a change in the last six months.

## Setting it up

Install it from the Marketplace and restart Home Assistant, then add it under Settings, Devices and services.

### Manual Modbus Configuration

- **Sensor Prefix**
- **Inverter IP Address**
- **Modbus/TCP Port**
- **Inverter Device ID List**
- **Skip Device ID validation**: Add the Device ID list without connecting to check that each ID responds as a SolarEdge inverter. Use this only if the check fails for a device you know is correct, such as one that is offline during setup.

### Discovered SolarEdge Inverter

- **Sensor Prefix**

### Scan for SolarEdge Inverters

- **Sensor Prefix**
- **Inverter IP Address**
- **Modbus/TCP Port**

### SolarEdge Modbus Configuration

- **Inverter IP Address**
- **Modbus/TCP Port**
- **Inverter Device ID List**

### After setup

- **Polling Frequency (seconds)**
- **Close Connection After Polling**
- **Auto-Detect Meters**
- **Auto-Detect Batteries**
- **Auto-Detect Additional Entities**
- **Power Control Options**
- **Modbus Request Timeout (seconds)**
- **Inverter Command Delay (seconds)**
- **Enable Storage Control**
- **Enable Site Limit Control**
- **Allow Battery Energy to Reset**
- **Update Cycles to Reset Battery Energy**
- **Battery Rating Adjustment (percent)**

## Troubleshooting

- **Diagnostics**: Downloads a diagnostics file to attach to a bug report.
- **Repair notices**: Notices it can show in Settings, Repairs:
Check Modbus Configuration, Invalid Inverter Device ID, Modbus YAML Configuration No Longer Supported, Keep Modbus Connection Open Option Replaced

## From the README

> This integration provides Modbus/TCP local polling to one or more SolarEdge inverters for Home Assistant. Each inverter can support three meters and three batteries over Modbus/TCP. It works with single inverters, multiple inverters, meters, batteries, and controls. The work in this repository is also being used in other libraries and integrations.
>
> By default, only features which are officially documented by SolarEdge are enabled: inverters, synergy inverters, and meters. All of the battery (read only) and control features (read/write battery and limit controls) can be enabled by configuring the hub after you add it to your Home Assistant.
>
> - Home Assistant Auto Discovery (Zeroconf) support.
> - Inverter support for 1 to 32 SolarEdge inverters.
> - Meter support for 1 to 3 meters per inverter.
> - Battery support for 1 to 3 batteries per inverter (SolarEdge proprietary).
> - SunSpec DER Storage Capacity reporting (SunSpec model 713).
> - Supports site limit and storage controls.
> - Automatically detects meters and batteries.
> - Supports Three Phase Inverters with Synergy Technology.
> - Polling frequency configuration option (1 to 86400 seconds).
> - Discovers inverters with Fast Scan (IDs 1–32), Complete Scan (IDs 1–247), or manual device ID list.
> - Connects locally using Modbus/TCP - no cloud dependencies.
> - Informational sensor for device and its attributes
