# Virtual Components

> Virtual Components is a Marketplace integration for Home Assistant. It has 661 installs sharing analytics, works locally and was last updated October 27, 2026.

Virtual Components is an integration that adds virtual entities to Home Assistant for testing setups. It provides virtual binary sensors, covers, presence, fans, lights, locks, numbers, sensors, switches and valves, and it works locally. Actions let a binary sensor be turned on, turned off or toggled, a sensor value be set, an entity's availability be changed, and a device tracker be moved to a new location. Devices are defined in a YAML file, and the integration can be added several times with devices spread across separate files. A device can group several entities, for example a motion detector with a motion entity and a battery entity. It is added through the Home Assistant interface and needs the Marketplace, or HACS on 2026.10 and older.
