# Home Theater Direct

> Home Theater Direct is a Marketplace integration for Home Assistant. It has 69 installs sharing analytics, works locally and was last updated October 3, 2026.

Home Theater Direct is an integration for HTD MC/MCA-66 and Lync whole house audio controllers. It talks to the controller locally, over a network connection or a serial USB link, and Home Assistant can discover it on the network. Each zone gets a media player with power, volume, mute and source selection, plus bass and treble sliders and a balance slider that is hidden by default. Lync units also get a Do Not Disturb switch per zone, which controls party mode and all-zones-on exclusion. Zone and source names are read from the controller and can be overridden, unused zones can be hidden, and the selectable sources can be limited per zone. A source ID attribute keeps a fixed source position so automations still match after a source is renamed, and an option can show the last known zone state while the amplifier is off.

## Supports

- **Works locally**: Talks to your devices on your own network. No vendor cloud in between.
- **Found by itself**: Home Assistant spots it on the network and offers to add it.
- **From the Marketplace**: Installed through the Marketplace, formerly HACS.
- **Actively maintained**: Its author released or pushed a change in the last six months.

## Setting it up

Install it from the Marketplace and restart Home Assistant, then add it under Settings, Devices and services.

### After setup

- **Host name or IP Address**
- **Port**
- **Serial device path**: For serial devices, prefer a stable path under /dev/serial/by-id/ over /dev/ttyUSBx.
- **Device name**
- **Restore last known state when the device is offline**: Show each zone's last known state instead of Unavailable while the amplifier is off. Home Assistant will mark these entities as assumed state, because a zone changed at the keypad while Home Assistant was down will read incorrectly until the amplifier reconnects.
