# Eskom Loadshedding Interface

Eskom Loadshedding Interface pulls Eskom loadshedding status and schedule information through the EskomSePush API. It adds sensors and calendars to Home Assistant for the loadshedding area that is selected during setup. Calendar triggers are the suggested way to automate actions around loadshedding events, such as switching something off before an event starts. The integration depends on the EskomSePush cloud service and needs an API key from that service, which is entered in the setup in the UI. Options cover the API key, the scan period, re-selecting the area, and turning sensors and calendars on or off. The update period defaults to 2 hours to limit API quota use, and monitoring that usage is left to the user.
