# Plant Monitor

> Plant Monitor is a Marketplace integration for Home Assistant. It has 5.3k installs sharing analytics and was last updated October 27, 2026.

Plant Monitor is a custom integration that treats each plant as a device with its own sensors, thresholds and health tracking. Species data, thresholds and images can be fetched from OpenPlantbook, and without it the thresholds are entered by hand. Each plant can be linked to source sensors for temperature, soil moisture, conductivity, illuminance, air humidity, CO2 and soil temperature. It also calculates daily light integral from illuminance and vapour pressure deficit from temperature and humidity. Every minimum and maximum threshold is its own number entity, so it can be changed from the UI or by automations. Problem triggers can be switched on per measurement, and an action replaces the source of a plant sensor. Setup is done in the UI as a custom repository.

## Supports

- **Device triggers**: Its devices can start automations directly.
- **From the Marketplace**: Installed through the Marketplace, formerly HACS.
- **Actively maintained**: Its author released or pushed a change in the last six months.

## Setting it up

Add its repository to the Marketplace as a custom repository and install it, then restart Home Assistant and add it under Settings, Devices and services.

### Configure a plant

- **Plant name**
- **Species**: Will be used for searching OpenPlantbook

### Select species from OpenPlantbook

- **Search for a different species**
- **Species**

### Select sensors

- **Fill sensors from device**: Pick a device, such as a soil sensor, and submit the form to fill the fields below from its entities. The form opens again so you can review them before continuing; fields you have already set are kept.
- **Temperature sensor**
- **Soil moisture sensor**
- **Conductivity sensor**
- **Illuminance sensor**
- **Air humidity sensor**
- **CO2 sensor**
- **Soil temperature sensor**

### Set limits

- **This is the plant I was looking for**
- **Plant species to display**
- **Max soil moisture (%)**
- **Min soil moisture (%)**
- **Max illuminance (lx)**
- **Min illuminance (lx)**
- **Max DLI (mol/d⋅m²)**
- **Min DLI (mol/d⋅m²)**
- **Max temperature (see above)**
- **Min temperature (see above)**
- **Max conductivity (uS/cm)**
- **Min conductivity (uS/cm)**
- **Max air humidity (%)**
- **Min air humidity (%)**
- **Max VPD (kPa)**

### After setup

- **Illuminance check days**
- **Species**
- **Force refresh data from OpenPlantbook**
- **Plant species to display**
- **Image URL. Will be automatically updated if species is found in OpenPlantbook**
- **Use illuminance as problem trigger**
- **Use daily light integral (DLI) as problem trigger**
- **Use air humidity as problem trigger**
- **Use conductivity as problem trigger**
- **Use soil moisture as problem trigger**
- **Moisture grace period after watering (seconds, 0-86400)**
- **Use temperature as problem trigger**
- **Use CO2 as problem trigger**
- **Use soil temperature as problem trigger**
- **Use VPD as problem trigger**
- **Fill sensors from device**: Pick a device, such as a soil sensor, and submit the form to fill the fields below from its entities. The form opens again so you can review them before continuing; fields you have already set are kept.
- **Temperature sensor**
- **Soil moisture sensor**
- **Conductivity sensor**
