## Supports

- **Uses the vendor's cloud**: Needs an internet connection and an account with the vendor.
- **From the Marketplace**: Installed through the Marketplace, formerly HACS.
- **Actively maintained**: Its author released or pushed a change in the last six months.

## Setting it up

Install it from the Marketplace and restart Home Assistant, then add it under Settings, Devices and services.

### MetService Weather

- **Device name**: Shown in the integrations list. The device and its entities are named after the selected weather location itself (e.g. "Napier Temperature"). Add the integration again to cover more locations.
- **Weather location**: The MetService town or rural location weather data is fetched for. Choose the one closest to you.
- **Marine Region**: Optional. Select the coastal region nearest to you to enable tide times, boating conditions, and surf sensors. You will choose specific stations for each on the next screen. Choose "None — skip marine data" if you don't need any of these.
- **Automatically disable sensors when they are seasonally unavailable**: Hides UV, fire danger and clothes drying sensors while MetService has no data for them.
- **Custom location**: For a town missing from the Weather location list, paste its metservice.com page address.

### Marine locations

- **Tide station**: Select a tide station to get next high/low tide times. Choose "None — skip" to omit tide sensors.
- **Boating location**: Select a location to get boating conditions and forecast. Choose "None — skip" to omit boating sensors.
- **Surf location**: Select a surf spot to get wave height, swell, rating, and wind conditions. Choose "None — skip" to omit surf sensors.

## Entities

- **Sensors**: Forecast issued, Weather description, Relative humidity, UV index, UV Alert, Wind direction, Temperature feel, Temperature, Pressure, Wind gust, Wind speed, Rain last hour, and 44 more

## Troubleshooting

- **Diagnostics**: Downloads a diagnostics file to attach to a bug report.
- **Repair notices**: Notices it can show in Settings, Repairs:
Deprecated sensors hidden automatically, Deprecated sensors disabled or hidden automatically, This MetService Weather entry needs reconfiguration, Removed forecast\_hourly/forecast\_daily attributes are still read, Marine sensors moved to a new device, MetService sensor(s) can reclaim their entity IDs, MetService sensor(s) could reclaim their entity IDs, but they're in use

## From the README

> Kia ora! 👋 This integration brings MetService weather into Home Assistant: live observations, hourly and 7-day forecasts, severe weather warnings, UV, pollen and fire danger, plus tides, boating and surf if you're near the coast.
>
> It reads the same public data the MetService website uses, so there's no API key and no account. Just pick your town.
