# Beatify

> Beatify is a Marketplace integration for Home Assistant. It has 540 installs sharing analytics, works locally and was last updated October 27, 2026.

Beatify is a music quiz party game that plays through speakers connected to Home Assistant. Players guess a song's release year, or in the Title & Artist mode type the song title and artist, with partial credit for typos. Music plays on Music Assistant, Sonos or Alexa speakers, and tracks come from streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer, YouTube Music and Amazon Music, or from a local library through Music Assistant. Guests join from their phones by scanning a QR code, with no app or account needed. It adds scoring with streaks, power-ups, a podium finale and a live vote on close answers. It runs locally, is set up in the UI, and has an option to bypass login for the Android Companion app that is off by default and not suited to setups behind a reverse proxy.

## Supports

- **Works locally**: Talks to your devices on your own network. No vendor cloud in between.
- **From the Marketplace**: Installed through the Marketplace, formerly HACS.
- **Actively maintained**: Its author released or pushed a change in the last six months.

## Setting it up

Install it from the Marketplace and restart Home Assistant, then add it under Settings, Devices and services.

### After setup

- **Enable HA Android Companion auth bypass**: OFF by default. When on, requests from the HA Android Companion app on your local network are treated as the host without a login. This weakens authentication and should stay OFF unless the Companion app genuinely cannot authenticate. Do NOT enable it if Beatify is reachable through Home Assistant Cloud (Nabu Casa) or any reverse proxy (nginx, Traefik, Caddy, …): the bypass is unsafe behind a reverse proxy. Beatify refuses it for requests that carry forwarding headers or come from a configured trusted proxy, but a proxy that hides itself could still let an internet visitor host games without credentials.

## Actions

- **Pause game**: Pauses the running Beatify game and shows the reason on the TV and every phone. Called while the host already paused, it changes the announcement.
  Fields: Reason
- **Resume game**: Resumes a paused Beatify game where it stopped.
- **Next round**: Ends the round that is playing (reveal), or starts the next round from the reveal. On the last round's reveal it ends the game.
- **End game**: Ends the running Beatify game and shows the podium.
