# Fenecon FEMS & OpenEMS

> Fenecon FEMS & OpenEMS is a Marketplace integration for Home Assistant. It has 342 installs sharing analytics, works locally and was last updated October 25, 2026.

Fenecon FEMS & OpenEMS is an integration that connects Home Assistant to Fenecon FEMS and OpenEMS energy systems. It talks to the system locally and is set up in the UI with the host, a username and password, and a connection type, with a custom websocket URL available for non-standard setups. Backend components appear as service devices and their channels as entities, covering sensors, switches, numbers, selects, times and updates, with read and write access. It can find and install FEMS updates, and it supports single and multi-edge systems. Pre-configured dashboard cards cover storage, EV charging, grid optimized charging, emergency capacity reserve, heating element and heat pump apps, plus a battery diagnosis dashboard with derived voltage difference values. An action changes OpenEMS component properties, and REST write actions send values for sensor channels back to the backend, though those values are not shown in Home Assistant.

## Supports

- **Works locally**: Talks to your devices on your own network. No vendor cloud in between.
- **From the Marketplace**: Installed through the Marketplace, formerly HACS.
- **Actively maintained**: Its author released or pushed a change in the last six months.

## Setting it up

Install it from the Marketplace and restart Home Assistant, then add it under Settings, Devices and services.

### Connect

- **Host**: The hostname or IP address of your Fenecon or OpenEMS system
- **Password**: For local monitoring, common values are "user" or "owner"
- **Username**: The username to access the system. Use "x" for local monitoring access
- **Connection type**
- **Custom URL**: Custom Websocket URL, eg: ws://192.168.1.100:8888/websocket

### Edges

- **OpenEMS Edge to be integrated**

### After setup

- **Limit data updates (seconds)**: Interval in seconds to publish channel data. Set to 0 to disable rate limits.
- **Ignore decreasing if total increasing**

## Actions

- **Update component configuration**: Changes properties of OpenEMS components. All properties of a component are sent in a single updateComponentConfig request. Number limits are not checked.
  Fields: Component devices, Properties
- **REST write sensor**: Cyclically sends a value for the channel of a sensor entity to the backend via REST. Values sent via REST write are not reflected by the backend and thus not visible in Home Assistant.
  Fields: Value, Timeout, Update cycle
- **REST write binary sensor**: Cyclically sends a value for the channel of a binary sensor entity to the backend via REST. Values sent via REST write are not reflected by the backend and thus not visible in Home Assistant.
  Fields: Value, Timeout, Update cycle

## Troubleshooting

- **Diagnostics**: Downloads a diagnostics file to attach to a bug report.
