It has 66 installs sharing analytics, needs the vendor's cloud and was last updated October 18, 2026. Gardena Smart System connects Gardena and Husqvarna Automower garden devices to Home Assistant through the vendor's cloud. It adds a lawn mower entity, valves, power socket switches, sensors for battery, soil moisture, temperature and light, plus a mowing schedule calendar and a headlight selector. Actions start watering for a set duration, turn on a power socket for a set time, override the mower schedule, park the mower until further notice, and resume the schedule. Updates arrive by real-time WebSocket push, with polling as a fallback, and the polling interval can be changed in the options. An optional local gateway mode talks to the Gardena gateway over the LAN, preferring local state and sending commands locally first, and an MQTT bridge can mirror device states and accept commands. Set to 1440 (24h) for near-indefinite operation. - **Default mowing duration**: Duration in minutes when the Lovelace 'Start' button (or lawn\_mower.start\_mowing service) triggers the mower (1-480). Sent as START\_SECONDS\_TO\_OVERRIDE so the mower starts immediately, independent of the Gardena schedule. The mower will auto-park earlier if it finishes the area or runs low on battery. - **Polling interval**: How often to poll the API for updates in minutes (5-1440). Lower values provide fresher data but consume more API quota. Default: 30 (Gardena) / 15 (Automower). - **Enable MQTT bridge**: Mirror device states to a local MQTT broker and optionally accept commands. Requires the MQTT integration to be configured. - **MQTT topic prefix**: Base topic for all MQTT messages (e.g. 'gardena' → gardena/DEVICE\_ID/state). - **Publish device states to MQTT**: Publish full device state as JSON on every update (WebSocket push or poll). - **Accept commands via MQTT**: Subscribe to PREFIX/DEVICE\_ID/command for inbound commands (start\_watering, stop\_watering, turn\_on, turn\_off, park, resume). - **Enable local gateway access**: Talk to the GARDENA smart Gateway directly over the LAN. Local state takes precedence over the cloud and commands are sent locally first (cloud is the fallback). The gateway's websocketd service must be enabled once via shell — see the documentation. - **Gateway host or IP**: Hostname or IP of the gateway (e.g. 10.0.0.5 or GARDENA-xxxxxx.local). Leave empty to disable. - **Gateway password**: The first 8 characters of the gateway's device id (printed on the underside). - **Gateway port**: WebSocket port of the gateway (default 8443).
