# Ontario Energy Board

> Ontario Energy Board is a Marketplace integration for Home Assistant. It has 305 installs sharing analytics, needs the vendor's cloud and was last updated August 19, 2026.

Ontario Energy Board is a Home Assistant integration that shows current energy rates for Ontario electricity and natural gas companies. It adds a device per configured company, with sensors for the current rate, the active peak period and the individual charges that make up a bill. Rates follow the Time-of-Use or Ultra-Low Overnight schedule through the day, including Ontario holidays, and the rate plan can be changed later in the options. A current all-in rate sensor can serve as a price source for cost tracking in the Energy dashboard, and next peak sensors let automations wait for cheaper power. Rates come from published open data of the Ontario Energy Board, so the integration needs a cloud connection, and it is set up in the UI. It is community-maintained and not affiliated with the Ontario Energy Board.

## Supports

- **Uses the vendor's cloud**: Needs an internet connection and an account with the vendor.
- **From the Marketplace**: Installed through the Marketplace, formerly HACS.
- **Actively maintained**: Its author released or pushed a change in the last six months.

## Setting it up

Install it from the Marketplace and restart Home Assistant, then add it under Settings, Devices and services.

### Electricity company

- **Energy company**
- **Ultra-Low Overnight (ULO) rates**: Turn this on only if you have opted in to the Ultra-Low Overnight plan, which has a very low overnight rate and a higher on-peak rate. Leave it off for the standard Time-of-Use plan.

### Natural gas company

- **Energy company**

Also asked when changing the connection.

### After setup

- **Ultra-Low Overnight (ULO) rates**: Turn this on only if you have opted in to the Ultra-Low Overnight plan with your utility. Changing it here tells Home Assistant which rates apply; it does not change your billing.
