# VW Group Connect

> VW Group Connect is a Marketplace integration for Home Assistant. It has 2.3k installs sharing analytics, needs the vendor's cloud and was last updated October 26, 2026.

VW Group Connect is an integration that brings Volkswagen Group cars into Home Assistant through the vendors' cloud services. It covers Audi, Volkswagen, Škoda, SEAT, CUPRA, Porsche, Bentley and the North American VW and Audi accounts from a single config entry. It exposes battery and charging state, range, odometer, climate, doors, windows and GPS location as sensors, locks, switches, numbers, climate and other entity types. Remote commands such as lock, unlock, climate and charge control work only where the brand's backend allows them, so support differs per brand. To cope with Volkswagen's API changes it uses several read channels, including the EU Data Act portal, a beta volkswagen.de channel and an optional Tibber gap-fill, and falls back automatically when one is blocked. Other options include a read-only mode, push updates, and a Škoda AI assistant service, and setup is done in the UI with the manufacturer account login.

## Supports

- **Uses the vendor's cloud**: Needs an internet connection and an account with the vendor.
- **Device triggers**: Its devices can start automations directly.
- **From the Marketplace**: Installed through the Marketplace, formerly HACS.
- **Actively maintained**: Its author released or pushed a change in the last six months.

## Setting it up

Install it from the Marketplace and restart Home Assistant, then add it under Settings, Devices and services.

### Two-factor confirmation

- **Confirmation Code**: 6-digit code — valid for a few minutes.

### Captcha required

- **Captcha Code**: Type the characters shown in the image above.

### Sign in with email + password (legacy)

- **Vehicle Brand**: Choose your brand — myAudi, WeConnect ID, MyŠkoda, SEAT, CUPRA, VW US/CA or Porsche.
- **Email Address**: Email address from the manufacturer app.
- **Password**: Password from the app.
- **S-PIN**: Only needed for locking. App → Security → S-PIN.
- **Region (Volkswagen US/Canada only)**
- **Update Interval**: How often data is fetched. Default: 5 min. Minimum: 3 min.
- **Enable durable two-way commands (MBB) — Car-Net Volkswagen / legacy Audi**: The durable way to send remote commands (lock/unlock, climate) to a Volkswagen — via the legacy Car-Net/MBB backend, so it survives restarts. For Car-Net cars (most PHEV/combustion, pre-ID); newer ID/MEB models aren't eligible, so leave it off there. Reads still come from the portal above; this only adds the command channel and a one-time browser confirmation (no extra password stored).

### Volkswagen EU — Durable Login (MBB, BETA)

- **VIN (vehicle identification number)**: Your 17-character VIN (on the windscreen / registration). Multiple cars: separate with a comma. Required — the durable MBB token works per-VIN but can't enumerate your garage.
- **S-PIN**: Optional 4-digit Security-PIN — required for remote lock/unlock.
- **Update Interval**: Minutes between vehicle data polls.

### Volkswagen.de website (BETA, read-only)

- **Email Address**: The email of your Volkswagen ID / myVolkswagen account.
- **Password**: Your Volkswagen ID password.
- **Update Interval**: How often data is fetched (minutes). Minimum: 5.

### Email verification code

- **Verification Code**: Code from your email inbox — valid for a few minutes.

### Sign in again

- **Email Address**
- **Password**
- **S-PIN**

### Reconfigure VW Group Connect

- **Vehicle Brand**
- **Email Address**
- **Password**
- **S-PIN**
- **Region (Volkswagen US/Canada only)**
- **Update Interval**

### After setup

- **Update Interval**: How often data is fetched (minutes). Minimum: 3.
- **S-PIN**: S-PIN for door locking. App → Security → S-PIN.
- **Battery nameplate capacity (kWh, for State of Health)**
- **Fuel tank capacity (litres, for fuel level %)**
- **Reverse Geocoding (parking address)**: Sends parking GPS to OpenStreetMap Nominatim to resolve street/city. Off by default for privacy.
- **Read-only Mode**: When enabled, only status sensors are created — no switches, buttons, locks, climate or sliders that send commands. Useful if you want vehicle telemetry without any risk of accidental actuation. Reload the integration after toggling.
- **Companion: wake screen to poll, sleep after**: Companion (ADB) only. Wakes the phone display before each poll and puts it back to sleep afterwards, so a locked or sleeping phone shows the app during the read without keeping the screen on permanently. Off by default. Reload after toggling.
- **Companion: close car app after each read**: Companion (ADB) only. Force-stops (closes) the car app after each poll, so the next read relaunches it fresh instead of scraping a screen the app left cached. Helps on devices where the app freezes its values between reads. Off by default — a cold relaunch is slower. Reload after toggling.
- **Audi PPE/PPC Climate body (Q6/A6 e-tron, RS e-tron GT Facelift, A3 2024+ PHEV)**: Audi-only. Forces the new PPE/PPC body shape (climatisationMode mandatory, targetTemperature omitted) on climate start. Enable only if you own a Q6 e-tron, A6 e-tron, RS e-tron GT Facelift or A3 2024+ PHEV — climate-start otherwise returns 400. Reload the integration after toggling.
- **Skoda push updates (MQTT, EXPERIMENTAL)**: EXPERIMENTAL: Skoda-only. Enables real-time MQTT push from Skoda mysmob backend (requires aiomqtt + firebase-messaging Python packages — currently lazy-imported, not pre-installed). Foundation phase in v1.18.0; live activation pending community-tester validation. If push is unavailable, the integration silently falls back to polling. Reload the integration after toggling.
- **CUPRA/SEAT push updates (FCM, EXPERIMENTAL)**: EXPERIMENTAL: CUPRA/SEAT only. Enables real-time Firebase Cloud Messaging push from OLA backend (requires firebase-messaging Python package — same lazy-import as v1.18.0 Skoda MQTT toggle). Foundation phase in v1.19.0; live activation pending community-tester validation. If push is unavailable, the integration silently falls back to polling. Reload the integration after toggling.
- **Audi/VW push updates (Cariad FCM, Live (beta))**: Live (beta): Audi/VW only. Enables real-time push notifications from the Cariad FCM channel (same one myAudi/WeConnect mobile apps use, covers lock/unlock results, charging-state, climate, alarm). Decoded events are fired onto the Home Assistant event bus as vag\_connect\_push\_event and trigger a coordinator refresh. Requires firebase-messaging Python package (same lazy-import as Skoda MQTT + CUPRA/SEAT FCM). Live activation since v2.8.0 (Action \#4); the credential resolver is still tester-gated until task \#40 follow-up lands the Cariad Firebase sender\_id. If push is unavailable, the integration silently falls back to polling. Reload the integration after toggling.
- **OAuth client\_id override (power users)**: Power-user escape hatch for when the community spots a fresh OAuth client\_id in a new VW Group APK before our daily atlas builder catches it. Paste the full UUID@apps\_vw-dilab\_com string here and the resolver tries it FIRST on every authenticate, with all the existing client\_ids still in the chain as fallback. Leave empty for default behaviour. Format: 8-4-4-4-12 hex digits followed by @apps\_vw-dilab\_com. Malformed values are silently ignored.
- **EU Data Act: auto-kickoff Custom Data Request**: Only meaningful when the integration is operating in read-only EU Data Act portal mode (live BFF strategies have failed). When ON, the coordinator checks for an active 15-min Custom Data Request per VIN at startup and creates one when none exists. The kickoff implies a 1-month data subscription on your account at the portal, so you can switch it off here. The portal accepts AT MOST ONE active custom request per VIN at a time. On by default — switch it off only if you'd rather manage the request yourself on the portal.
- **Add or refresh a Volkswagen.de read channel (merge extra data)**
- **Email Address**: The email of your Volkswagen ID / myVolkswagen account.
- **Password**: Your Volkswagen ID password.
- **Update Interval**: How often data is fetched (minutes). Minimum: 5.
- **Verification Code**: Code from your email inbox — valid for a few minutes.
- **Email Address**: The email of your Volkswagen ID / myVolkswagen account.
- **Password**: Your Volkswagen ID password. Used only to renew the 1-hour access token against Volkswagen's login server; never logged and redacted from diagnostics.
- **Email**
- **Password**
- **Tibber client ID**
- **Tibber client secret**
- **Redirected URL (or the code)**

## Actions

- **Unlock trunk (Porsche, experimental)**: Unlocks the tailgate only on the given Porsche — the doors stay locked. Porsche only; other brands reject the call. Requires the S-PIN. Experimental: derived from the My Porsche app and not yet verified against a real car.
  Fields: VIN
- **Start Climate Control (Rich)**: Start pre-conditioning with individual seat heaters, glass heating, climate mode and at-unlock behaviour. Only applies to Audi and VW EU (CARIAD BFF). Other brands fall through to the basic start\_climatisation service. All payload fields except device\_id are optional - omitted fields keep the brand default.
Fields: Vehicle, Target temperature (C), Glass heating, Front-left seat heating, Front-right seat heating, Rear-left seat heating, Rear-right seat heating, Continue climate when unlocked, Climatisation mode
- **Update Charging Settings (SEAT/CUPRA)**: Update the SEAT/CUPRA charge plan in one call. Sets any combination of target state of charge, maximum AC charge current and the auto-unlock-when-charged flag. Other brands are rejected at the coordinator dispatch level.
Fields: VIN, Target state of charge (%), Maximum AC charge current, Auto-unlock plug when fully charged
- **Execute Vehicle Action**: Unified service that dispatches a vehicle action selected from a dropdown. Equivalent to calling the per-action service of the same name but easier to find in the Home Assistant Lovelace service picker. All existing per-action services (vag\_connect.lock, vag\_connect.start\_climatisation, etc) keep working unchanged.
  Fields: Vehicle, Action
- **Open native brand app (deeplink)**: Fires the vag\_connect\_open\_app event on the HA event bus with payload fields vin, brand, deeplink\_url and action so a Lovelace card can open the brand's native mobile app (myAudi, WeConnect, MyŠkoda, MySEAT, MyCUPRA, My Porsche or VW US) on the calling device. The integration cannot open URLs on a phone by itself; the dashboard card is responsible for navigating window.location.href = deeplink\_url on iOS / Android.
  Fields: App action, VIN
- **Send telemetry to ABRP**: Build and send the vehicle's current telemetry to A Better Routeplanner.
Fields: Vehicle, VIN, api\_key override, token override
- **Set location target SoC**: Set the target state of charge of a specific charging profile (Škoda, location-based).
Fields: VIN, Profile ID, Target state of charge (%)
- **Set seat heating**: Toggle seat heating per seat (Škoda). Only the seats given are changed.
Fields: VIN, Front left, Front right, Rear left, Rear right
- **Ask the Škoda AI assistant (Laura)**: Send a free-text prompt to the MyŠkoda AI assistant "Laura" (Škoda only) and get the answer via response\_variable (summary = answer text, session\_id for follow-ups). Advisory only — route planning + product questions, no vehicle control.
Fields: VIN, Question / prompt, Time zone, Session ID

## Troubleshooting

- **Diagnostics**: Downloads a diagnostics file to attach to a bug report.
- **System health**: Adds its status to Home Assistant's system information.
- **Repair notices**: Notices it can show in Settings, Repairs:
Škoda official API — add your API key, VW EU Two-Way: disabled by Volkswagen, Email 2FA — check your inbox, Account appears to be temporarily locked, EU Data Act portal: optional 'playwright' package missing, EU Data Act portal session expired - reauthenticate, Volkswagen US/CA: vehicle data blocked (HTTP 403), Volkswagen US/CA: vehicle data blocked by VW (device attestation), Škoda: mandatory consent not accepted, Help confirm a new capability — share your test result?, Škoda official API — you're now enrolled automatically, Škoda official API — key limit reached, Škoda official API — another integration is using it too
