# PV Energy Management+

> PV Energy Management+ is a Marketplace integration for Home Assistant. It has 53 installs sharing analytics, works locally and was last updated October 12, 2026.

PV Energy Management+ tracks amortization, savings and consumption for a PV system on a fixed-price electricity tariff. It works locally and is set up in the UI, using energy counters for PV production, grid import and export, with tariff, tax and installation cost values entered from the bill. It calculates savings from self-consumption and earnings from feed-in, and shows remaining cost and amortization status, with yearly costs deducted. Optional parts cover battery state and time remaining, up to four PV strings with specific yield, and a yearly electricity quota. An energy benchmark compares household consumption with reference data for Austria, Germany or Switzerland, and a load forecast builds an hourly profile from recorded history.

## Supports

- **Works locally**: Talks to your devices on your own network. No vendor cloud in between.
- **From the Marketplace**: Installed through the Marketplace, formerly HACS.
- **Actively maintained**: Its author released or pushed a change in the last six months.

## Setting it up

Install it from the Marketplace and restart Home Assistant, then add it under Settings, Devices and services.

### Setup PV Energy Management+

- **Name**: Name for this PV system
- **PV Production Sensor (kWh)**: Ever-increasing energy counter (kWh) of your PV system. Only have a power sensor (W)? Create a Riemann integral helper first (W → kWh).
- **Grid Export Sensor (kWh)**: Ever-increasing energy counter (kWh) for grid export. For earnings calculation.
- **Grid Import Sensor (kWh)**: Ever-increasing energy counter (kWh) for grid import.
- **Consumption Sensor (kWh, optional)**: Ever-increasing energy counter (kWh) for total household consumption.
- **Energy Price net (ct/kWh)**: Net energy price from provider (e.g., 12.55 ct/kWh). Found on bill under 'Energy charges'.
- **Grid Fee (ct/kWh)**: Per kWh — Grid usage + grid loss fee from your bill (e.g. 6.78 ct/kWh). Leave at 0 to use markup factor instead.
- **Taxes & Levies (ct/kWh)**: Per kWh — Electricity tax + renewable levies from your bill (e.g. 2.43 ct/kWh).
- **VAT (%)**: VAT on the total sum (AT: 20%, DE: 19%). Found at the bottom of your bill.
- **\--- Alternative: Markup Factor ---**: Flat alternative: Gross = Net × Factor (e.g. 2.0 turns 10ct into 20ct). Only used when grid fee and taxes are 0.
- **Electricity Price via Sensor (optional)**: Sensor or input\_number for the current electricity price (dynamic tariff OR fixed energy price). Overrides the static value above. Unit is taken from the sensor's unit of measurement (ct/kWh or €/kWh); auto-detected only if the sensor has none.
- **Feed-in Tariff Unit**: Choose if feed-in tariff is in Euro or Cent per kWh
- **Feed-in Tariff**: Static feed-in tariff. Only used when NO sensor is selected.
- **Feed-in Tariff via Sensor (optional)**: Sensor providing the current feed-in tariff (e.g. market price). Overrides the static value above. Unit is taken from the sensor's unit of measurement (ct/kWh or €/kWh); auto-detected only if the sensor has none.
- **Installation Cost**: Total cost of PV system including installation

### After setup

- **PV Production (kWh)**: Ever-increasing energy counter (kWh). For power sensors (W): Create a Riemann integral helper first.
- **Grid Export (kWh)**: Ever-increasing energy counter (kWh) for grid export.
- **Grid Import (kWh)**: Ever-increasing energy counter (kWh) for grid import.
- **Consumption (kWh)**: Ever-increasing energy counter (kWh) for household consumption.
- **Current PV Power (W)**: Current PV power in Watts (e.g. from your inverter). Together with house power (W) required for the PV surplus sensors.
- **Current House Power (W)**: Current house power consumption in Watts (e.g. from your smart meter). Surplus = PV power - house power.
- **PV-aware Load (W)**: Optional. Used only for the PV surplus calculation — not used anywhere else. When your PV-aware load (e.g. heat pump) is running, its consumption is subtracted from house power. Otherwise the load would push surplus below the threshold by its own consumption, causing flapping between ON and OFF.
- **PV System Peak Power (W, auto)**: Leave empty → auto-derived from your PV strings (sum of configured kWp × 1000 or measured peak). Only set this to override the automatic value. Drives the low/medium/high thresholds (5/15/30 % of peak).
- **Electricity price net (ct/kWh) — Fallback**: Static net energy price. Only used when NO sensor is selected.
- **Grid Fee (ct/kWh)**: Per kWh — Grid usage + grid loss fee (from bill). Gross = (Energy + Grid Fee + Taxes) × (1 + VAT%)
- **Taxes & Levies (ct/kWh)**: Per kWh — Electricity tax + renewable levies (from bill).
- **VAT (%)**: VAT on the total sum (AT: 20%, DE: 19%).
- **\--- Alternative: Markup Factor ---**: Only when grid fee + taxes are 0! Gross = Net × Factor (e.g. 2.0 turns 10ct into 20ct).
- **Electricity price via sensor (optional)**: Sensor or input\_number for current electricity price (e.g. dynamic tariff or manual value). Overrides the static value above. Unit is taken from the sensor's unit of measurement (ct/kWh or €/kWh); auto-detected only if the sensor has none.
- **Feed-in tariff unit**: Unit for the static fallback value below
- **Feed-in tariff — Fallback**: Static feed-in tariff. Only used when NO sensor is selected.
- **Feed-in tariff via sensor (optional)**: Sensor or input\_number for current feed-in tariff (e.g. market price). Overrides the static value above. Unit is taken from the sensor's unit of measurement (ct/kWh or €/kWh); auto-detected only if the sensor has none.
- **PV system installation cost**: Total cost of PV system (for amortization calculation)
- **Installation date**: For statistics and forecasts
- **Yearly cost**: Yearly costs like insurance, maintenance etc. Deducted from amortization calculation.
- **Enable electricity quota**: Enables the electricity quota sensors (fixed-price tariff with yearly kWh budget)
- **Yearly quota (kWh)**: Your yearly quota in kWh (e.g., 4000 kWh)
- **Tariff period start date**: Start of tariff period (read from invoice, doesn't have to be Jan 1)
- **Amortization Helper (input\_number)**: input\_number helper to store total savings. Survives updates/reinstalls.
- **Restore values from helper?**: On start, restore savings from the helper value.
- **Already amortized amount (EUR)**: How much has the PV system already 'earned back'? E.g. from previous tracking. Savings calculated at current price.
- **Export meter at commissioning (kWh)**: The export meter's reading when the PV system went into service. Used only on the integration's first start; at 0 the whole meter reading counts as this system's export.
- **Self-consumption correction (kWh)**: Added to the counted self-consumption; may be negative. E.g. energy from before tracking, or +744 if the export meter already read 744 kWh at commissioning.
- **Export correction (kWh)**: Added to the counted export; may be negative. E.g. export from before tracking, or -744 if the export meter already read 744 kWh at commissioning.
- **State of Charge Sensor (SOC)**: Sensor for battery state of charge in percent (e.g. sensor.battery\_state\_of\_charge)
- **Total Charge Sensor (kWh)**: Ever-increasing energy counter (kWh) for battery charge. For power sensors (W): Create a Riemann integral helper first.
- **Total Discharge Sensor (kWh)**: Ever-increasing energy counter (kWh) for battery discharge. For power sensors (W): Create a Riemann integral helper first.
- **Battery Power Sensor (W) — for time-remaining**: Instantaneous battery power in W (e.g. sensor.battery\_power). Positive = charging. Basis for the new time-remaining sensor.
- **Flip sign (if charge/discharge are swapped)**
- **Grid Power Sensor (W) — optional, for time-remaining without a battery sensor**: Only needed if you have no battery power sensor: time-remaining is then derived from PV − house − grid.
- **Battery Capacity (kWh)**: Usable capacity of battery storage in kWh
- **Usable share (%) — depth of discharge**: How much % of capacity is actually usable (depth of discharge, e.g. 90%). Prevents an overestimated 'time to empty'.
