# Home Battery Simulation

> Home Battery Simulation is a Marketplace integration for Home Assistant. It has 905 installs sharing analytics, works locally and was last updated October 7, 2026.

Home Battery Simulation models how much energy a home battery would save, based on a home's import and export energy meters. The simulated battery charges while energy is being exported and discharges while energy is being imported, and the state of charge and total energy saved are published as sensors. Each battery can be defined with its size, charge and discharge rates, efficiency values or curves, rated cycles, end-of-life capacity and a minimum selectable state of charge. Fixed tariffs or tariff sensors can be attached to the meters, and an average energy value sensor estimates the monetary value of the usable energy stored. Actions can set the battery charge, the cycle count and the stored energy value, and can return the efficiency at a given power level. It runs locally and is set up in the UI, and the README notes that a real battery may behave differently from the simulation.

## From the README

> Allows you to model how much energy you would save with a home battery if you currently export energy to the grid e.g. from solar panels. Requires an energy monitor that can measure import and export energy. Whenever you are exporting energy your simulated battery will charge up and whenever you are importing it will discharge. The battery state of charge and the total energy saved are published as sensors.
>
> Please note this is a simulation and a real battery may behave differently and not all batteries will support all the features available in this simulation.
