It has 67 installs sharing analytics, works locally and was last updated October 20, 2026. Digital Pendulum is a speaking clock that announces the time through Alexa, Google Home or any other media player. It announces the time every hour or every half hour, only within a configurable time slot that can cross midnight. A chime can play before the voice, chosen from preset sounds or a custom audio file, with an adjustable delay between chime and voice. The voice can be turned off for chime only, and a Westminster chime can replace the normal chime at noon. The announcement language follows Home Assistant or can be set separately, and a script can be used as the player for custom playback. No vendor cloud in between. - **From the Marketplace**: Installed through the Marketplace, formerly HACS. - **Actively maintained**: Its author released or pushed a change in the last six months. ## Setting it up Install it from the Marketplace and restart Home Assistant, then add it under Settings, Devices and services. ### Digital Pendulum Setup - **Player type**: Select your device type (Alexa, Google Home, or Generic) - **Media player device**: Media player to use, or a script (script.\*) when the player type is Script. The script receives chime\_url, or message and language, as variables. - **Start hour** - **End hour** - **Enabled** - **Announcement language**: Select the language for time announcements. 'Automatic' uses the Home Assistant language setting - **Announcement style**: Classic: "Ore 15 e trenta". Colloquial: "Sono le 3 e mezza", "È mezzanotte", "È l'una".
