# ARP-Scan Device Tracker

> ARP-Scan Device Tracker is a Marketplace integration for Home Assistant. It has 156 installs sharing analytics, works locally and was last updated October 26, 2026.

ARP-Scan Device Tracker is a Home Assistant integration that tracks devices on the local network using ARP scanning. It creates a device tracker for each device found, reporting a home or not home state. The scanner is written in pure Python, so no external arp-scan command is needed, though it uses raw sockets that need network permissions. Setup runs through the UI, with the network interface and range detected automatically. Settings cover scan interval, consider-home delay, ARP timeout, optional reverse DNS hostname lookup, include and exclude IP lists, and whether new devices are tracked automatically. For ZeroTier, WireGuard or Tailscale networks, it can probe a given list of IPs instead of scanning the subnet.

## Supports

- **Works locally**: Talks to your devices on your own network. No vendor cloud in between.
- **From the Marketplace**: Installed through the Marketplace, formerly HACS.
- **Actively maintained**: Its author released or pushed a change in the last six months.

## Setting it up

Install it from the Marketplace and restart Home Assistant, then add it under Settings, Devices and services.

### ARP-Scan Device Tracker

- **Network Interface**: Select a network interface from the list
- **Network Range (CIDR)**: Network range in CIDR notation (e.g., 192.168.1.0/24). Leave empty to auto-detect.
- **Scan Interval**: How often to scan for devices (5-300 seconds)
- **Consider Home**: How long to wait before marking a device as not home (10-1800 seconds)
- **ARP Timeout**: Timeout for each ARP request (0.5-10 seconds)
- **Resolve Hostnames (DNS)**: Look up device hostnames via reverse DNS lookup
- **Enable Found Devices**: Enable newly found device tracker entities by default. When disabled, new entities are added but disabled in the entity registry.
- **Track New Devices**: Automatically create device tracker entities for newly discovered devices. When disabled, only previously known devices are tracked.
- **Include IPs**: Only track devices with these IP addresses (comma-separated list)
- **Exclude IPs**: Skip tracking devices with these IP addresses (comma-separated list)
- **ZeroTier/VPN Hosts (IPs)**: Probe only these IPs instead of scanning the network (for ZeroTier, WireGuard, Tailscale, etc.)

### After setup

- **Scan Interval**: How often to scan for devices (5-300 seconds)
- **Consider Home**: How long to wait before marking a device as not home (10-1800 seconds)
- **ARP Timeout**: Timeout for each ARP request (0.5-10 seconds)
- **Resolve Hostnames (DNS)**: Look up device hostnames via reverse DNS lookup (may slow down scans)
- **Enable Found Devices**: Enable newly found device tracker entities by default. When disabled, new entities are added but disabled in the entity registry.
- **Track New Devices**: Automatically create device tracker entities for newly discovered devices. When disabled, only previously known devices are tracked.
- **ZeroTier/VPN Hosts (IPs)**: Probe only these IPs instead of scanning the network (for ZeroTier, WireGuard, Tailscale, etc.)
- **Include IPs**: Only track devices with these IP addresses (comma-separated list)
- **Exclude IPs**: Skip tracking devices with these IP addresses (comma-separated list)
