# MQTT Media Player

> MQTT Media Player is a Marketplace integration for Home Assistant. It has 114 installs sharing analytics, works locally and was last updated October 10, 2026.

MQTT Media Player is a Marketplace integration that fills a Home Assistant media player entity from MQTT topics. A device publishes a JSON configuration message to a discovery topic, and the player then appears in Home Assistant through MQTT auto-discovery. It supports playback control such as play, pause, skip and volume, and it reads the player state, track position and duration from topics. Album art can be shown when it is published as a base64-encoded image, with JPEG recommended. Availability monitoring shows when a device is online or offline, and the media browser can send media to the player, with a JSON payload published to a play media topic. It works locally and is set up in the UI.
